Melbourne teenager charged after high-speed police pursuit
A 16-year-old teenager has been charged with multiple offences following a high-speed police pursuit across several Melbourne suburbs. The incident began early Thursday morning when a Dog Squad unit spotted a Mitsubishi Lancer with allegedly stolen registration plates in Dandenong.
During the pursuit, which involved the Air Wing, the vehicle traveled from Noble Park through various suburbs toward the CBD, reportedly driving erratically, through red lights, and at times against the flow of traffic. After being stop-sticked by a Prahran unit, the vehicle continued onto the Monash Freeway before eventually coming to a stop in Pakenham with three deflated tyres.
The teenager faces a range of charges, including dangerous driving while pursued by police, reckless conduct endangering life, theft of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, and possession of a controlled weapon. The vehicle is believed to have been stolen from a Moorabbin gym on September 28.
