Melbourne Victory signs attacker Guillermo May

Melbourne Victory has signed Uruguayan attacker Guillermo May ahead of the 2026-27 A-League season. The 28-year-old joins the club following the departure of Spanish playmaker Juan Mata.

May arrives from Auckland FC, where he played a key role in their recent success, including winning the 2024-25 premiership and championship. During his time with the New Zealand-based club, he scored 16 goals in 58 appearances. His professional background includes stints with Club Nacional de Football in Uruguay, Deportivo de La Coruña’s reserve side, Cerro Largo, Danubio, and Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina.

Melbourne Victory Director of Football John Didulica noted that May’s ability to operate across the attacking third adds dynamic potential to the squad. May expressed excitement about joining the club and contributing to its history after previously competing against them in the league.
