Lyon sports clubs secure key victories in football and rugby

Lyon-based sports clubs have seen mixed results in their recent seasonal openings. In women's football, OL Lyonnes secured a dominant 7-1 victory against Fleury, highlighted by a hat-trick from Melchie Dumornay.

In men's football, Olympique Lyonnais (OL) defeated Auxerre 3-1, with summer signings Felix Bacher and Zachary Athekame contributing goals. Coach Paulo Fonseca praised the integration of new players, including Loïs Openda, despite Openda not scoring in the match. However, the OL reserve team struggled, recording a 0-0 draw against Feurs.

In rugby, LOU Rugby opened their Top 14 season with a 40-36 victory over Clermont at the Matmut Stadium. Despite a late surge from Clermont, standout performances from Gabin Lorre and Léo Berdeu secured the win for the Lyon side.
