Melcochita honored with bust and mural in La Victoria

Peruvian entertainer Pablo Villanueva, widely known as Melcochita, has been honored with a fiberglass bust and a street mural in his birthplace of La Victoria. The tributes celebrate his 90th birthday and a career in music and comedy spanning over 60 years.

The bust, created by artist Raúl Franco, was unveiled in Chicama Park during a ceremony attended by Villanueva and the mayor of La Victoria, Rubén Cano. Additionally, a colorful mural designed by Antonio Díaz was installed on Rivas Street, featuring Villanueva’s famous catchphrase, ‘¡No vayan!’.

The recognition comes shortly before Villanueva’s scheduled farewell concert on September 26 at the Centro de Convenciones del Parque de la Amistad, where he is expected to perform alongside various musical guests.
