Melekbaba Sports Complex opens in Malatya

The Melekbaba Sports Complex has been completed in Malatya, a project implemented by the Malatya Metropolitan Municipality with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Spanning 58 decares, the facility includes a FIBA-standard indoor sports hall with a 1,000-person capacity, a UEFA-standard sports field for 1,500 spectators, an indoor astro-turf field, volleyball and basketball courts, tennis courts, and a bocce field.

A notable feature of the complex is its indoor hockey arena, which is the first of its kind in Turkey. The facility also provides specialized halls for mat sports, green spaces, and walking paths.

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak inspected the site alongside AK Party Parliamentary Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, Governor Seddar Yavuz, and Metropolitan Mayor Sami Er. During the visit, Minister Bak participated in various activities, including basketball and hockey, and observed demonstrations in taekwondo, fencing, badminton, and archery.
