Meli Club travel package scam investigated in Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnamese authorities have expanded investigations into Meli Club, a travel and investment firm accused of defrauding customers with bogus vacation ownership packages. The company, chaired by Vũ Duy Tùng, operated with hundreds of staff across sales, customer service, and event organization, and maintained two branches in Hanoi. Victims were lured with promises of free travel vouchers, a 10% annual return, and the ability to resell the holiday cards for profit. After paying up to 180 million VND for a card that supposedly granted eight days of vacation per year over 14 years, customers received non‑functional cards. When refunds were requested, the firm cited contract clauses to delay or deny payment. Police in Ho Chi Minh City have seized premises and continue to probe the scheme, which reportedly generated about 200 billion VND in revenue since its launch in March 2024.
