Melikgazi Municipality deploys humanoid robot MEGA

Melikgazi Municipality has introduced a humanoid robot named ‘MEGA’ to support its municipal services as part of a smart city initiative. The robot is designed to assist citizens by providing guidance, supporting call center operations, and offering face-to-face consultation. Additionally, MEGA is programmed with the capability to perform inspections in a municipal police capacity when assigned.

Technically, the robot features 27 motors, including a 360-degree rotation capability at its base and 240-degree rotation for other components. It utilizes a balance-stabilizing system and contains two computers to manage its mechanics and software. Equipped with a camera for real-time image interpretation and environmental mapping, the robot can learn its surroundings to complete tasks. It operates for approximately two hours on a 45-minute charge.

Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated that the robot will guide visitors during the day and complement AI assistants in the call center during evenings and weekends. The municipality also intends to make the robot accessible to students for software training and practical educational purposes.
