Melilla police arrest four for arson and vandalism

The Spanish National Police have arrested four individuals in connection with a series of arson attacks in Melilla. Among those detained are two minors identified as the alleged perpetrators of the fire that damaged the fishermen's monument boat in Plaza de los Pescadores. The fire caused significant damage to the vessel's deck, cabin, and hull. The investigation, led by the Juvenile Group (Grume) of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, was prompted by video footage of the incident circulating on social media.

Additionally, two other individuals—one adult and one minor—were caught in the act of setting fire to trash containers on General Castaños Street in Cabrerizas. The flames spread to adjacent containers before they were apprehended. These arrests are part of a specific police operation launched by the Melilla Superior Police Headquarters to increase prevention and response to recent acts of arson in the city.
