Melilla political parties react to November 29 general election announcement

Following the announcement of general elections for November 29, political movements in Melilla are organizing their strategies. The party Nueva Melilla, led by Mohamed Bussian, has proposed the creation of a broad 'common front' composed of local political forces. This initiative aims to break bipartisanship and establish a strong, independent voice for Melilla in the Spanish Parliament. Bussian suggested that candidates for this joint ticket should be selected through a democratic primary process.

Nueva Melilla expressed strong criticism of the Partido Popular (PP), stating that fifty years of PP representation has not contributed to the city's development. The party also dismissed the right-wing and far-right as exhausted options that do not serve the city's structural needs.

Meanwhile, the PSOE in Melilla has stated it is approaching the elections with a project focused on continuing recent social advances. Juan José Martín, the PSOE's Secretary of Organization, emphasized that the party will present a specific proposal for Melilla while addressing national challenges such as housing, technology, and climate change.
