Melissa Auf der Maur to release book of 1990s grunge photography

Musician and photographer Melissa Auf der Maur is releasing a new book titled ‘My ’90s Rock Photographs’, which features over 200 images captured during her time in the grunge scene. The collection, shot on point-and-shoot film cameras, documents life on stage, backstage, and on the road during the height of the alternative rock movement.

Auf der Maur, who served as the bassist for the band Hole, captured these moments during a volatile period in music history that included the release of the album ‘Live Through This’. The book is set to be accompanied by an exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario starting in September, as well as a future feature-length documentary focused on her photographic archive.
