Melissa Barrera expands career into Broadway and producing

Actress Melissa Barrera has transitioned from Mexican television and Hollywood horror films to making her Broadway debut. In March 2026, she performed at the St. James Theatre in the musical comedy Titanique, playing the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater.

Barrera, originally from Monterrey, has built an international profile through roles in the Scream franchise and the film adaptation of In the Heights. Her recent work includes the espionage thriller The Copenhagen Test alongside Simu Liu.

Beyond acting, Barrera has moved into producing. She served as an executive producer for the documentary Traces of Home, directed by Colette Ghunim, which explores a Mexican-Palestinian family history and screened at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival.
