Melissa Barrera reacts to industry support for Macklemore

Actress Melissa Barrera has commented on the recent controversy involving rapper Macklemore, noting the difference in industry support received by the two artists. Barrera, who was dismissed from the ‘Scream VII’ franchise in late 2023 following social media posts criticizing Israel’s actions in Gaza, expressed emotion regarding the solidarity shown to Macklemore.

Macklemore was recently removed from certain dates of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Loop Tour’ after making pro-Palestinian statements onstage. In response, opening acts including Finneas and other band members withdrew from the tour in support of the rapper. Barrera remarked that while she did not receive similar widespread support when her own professional situation unfolded, it is positive to see that industry responses appear to have changed over the last three years.
