Melissa Khalaj intercepted by police at airport

German television presenter Melissa Khalaj was intercepted by the Federal Police at an airport following a flight. The incident occurred after flight crew announced via loudspeaker that police were waiting to search for a specific individual upon landing.

The confrontation arose due to an administrative error regarding Khalaj's identification. After previously losing her ID card, she had reported it as stolen. Although she later recovered the document, she failed to notify the authorities that it had been found. Consequently, the ID remained flagged in the police system, leading officers to identify and detain her during the exit controls.

Speaking on the podcast ‘Zahltag’, Khalaj described the confusion experienced by her mother during the encounter and used the experience to warn others to properly update authorities if a reported lost or stolen document is recovered.
