Melissa McCarthy to star in Netflix JonBenét Ramsey series

Melissa McCarthy will star in the upcoming Netflix true crime miniseries, ‘The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey’, scheduled for release on December 10, 2026. McCarthy portrays Patsy Ramsey, the mother of the six-year-old girl who was murdered in her Boulder, Colorado, home on Christmas Day in 1996. She will perform alongside Clive Owen, who plays John Ramsey.

McCarthy revealed that she initially considered declining the role, feeling it might not be her business to participate. However, after researching the case, she felt compelled to join the project due to what she described as a “lack of humanity” shown to the family by the public and media during the original investigation.

The series, created by Richard LaGravenese, aims to focus on the trauma experienced by the family and the consequences of the tragedy rather than functioning as a simple mystery. McCarthy noted that her personal intuition leads her to believe the family was not involved in the crime, stating, “My heart says no one in the family could have done that.”
