Melissa McCarthy to star in Netflix's JonBenét Ramsey series

Actress Melissa McCarthy is set to star in the upcoming Netflix series, ‘The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey’, premiering December 10. McCarthy portrays Patsy Ramsey in what she describes as a character study of those caught in the public frenzy surrounding the 1996 case, rather than a traditional mystery.

In preparing for the role, McCarthy expressed a sense of reckoning regarding her past perceptions. She admitted to having previously judged the Ramsey family based on tabloid coverage, noting that she once questioned the way the young girl was dressed in media reports. McCarthy stated that her perspective has since shifted, particularly as a mother, and she described the public's reaction to the tragedy as treating ‘other people’s trauma as a sporting event.’

Co-star Clive Owen, who plays John Ramsey, noted the emotional intensity of the production, mentioning that a psychologist was available on set to support the cast during the shoot.
