Melissopetra: A traditional mountain village in Arcadia
Melissopetra is a small, traditional settlement located in the Gortynia region of Arcadia, Peloponnese, at an altitude of approximately 850 meters. Situated about 12 kilometers from Dimitsana, the village is characterized by its lush vegetation, specifically walnut and plane trees, which define the landscape across different seasons.
The village maintains a quiet, authentic mountain atmosphere, largely due to its low population and lack of mass tourism. Residents primarily engage in agriculture and livestock farming, preserving a traditional way of life closely tied to the natural environment. Historically, the settlement was also known by the names Trestena or Trestaina.
