Mellojoy opens first Japanese pop-up shop in Harajuku

The art toy brand Mellojoy has opened its first physical retail experience, the Mellojoy Pop-Up Shop, in Harajuku, Tokyo. The store officially opened on September 9, 2026, following a press preview and opening ceremony held the previous day.

Mellojoy, which has surpassed 1 billion global impressions on social media platforms like TikTok, specializes in handmade “squishy” art toys. The products are crafted from high-quality, 100% food-grade silicone by professional artisans. The Harajuku location allows customers to physically interact with the textures of the items, which was previously only possible online.

The pop-up shop features multiple zones. The first floor serves as a retail space housing approximately 148 types of squishies, including popular series such as “Luxurious Souffle” and the new “Kiwami Sushi” collection. The second floor is designed as an experiential area featuring large-scale installations, a giant squishy, photo booths with themed sticker printing, and fortune-telling stations.

Entry to the shop requires a timed reservation via the official website. Customers who meet specific spending thresholds are eligible for various limited-edition rewards, including stickers, clear cards, and acrylic keychains.
