Melody Shari surrenders in Alabama over harassment charges

Melody Shari Rodgers, a former star of ‘Love & Marriage: Huntsville’, voluntarily surrendered to the Madison County Jail in Alabama on September 22. She was booked on a charge of third-degree domestic violence, specifically harassment, following a warrant issued in May. The allegations were made by her ex-husband, Martell Holt, who claimed Rodgers grabbed his arm at a school event, causing an injury.

Rodgers has denied all accusations, describing them as “fabricated” and “false.” She maintains that the report was filed as a tactic to prevent her from leaving the state.

In response to the legal proceedings, Rodgers is working with Alabama lawmakers to introduce the “Melody Shari Act.” The proposed legislation aims to increase the consequences for knowingly filing false police reports, seeking to elevate such actions from a misdemeanor to a felony. The act would also facilitate easier paths to sue for punitive damages and impact professional licensures.
