Melora Hardin recalls 1983 role on Magnum, P.I

Actress Melora Hardin recently shared recollections of her early career during an appearance on the podcast ‘Hey Dude. . . The 90s Called’. She discussed a 1983 role in the television series ‘Magnum, P.I.’, where she appeared alongside Tom Selleck.

At the age of 15, Hardin portrayed Nancy Perkins Gillis, a character depicted as a runaway and streetwalker. Reflecting on the role and the heavy makeup and platinum blonde wig used for the part, Hardin noted how television standards have shifted, remarking, ‘Different time, folks! Different time. Where that was considered cute.’

Hardin, who is well known for her role as Jan Levinson in ‘The Office’, has been working since childhood. Her early credits include appearances in ‘The Love Boat’, ‘Diff’rent Strokes’, and ‘Little House on the Prairie’. She also shared a personal anecdote about being a teenager enamored with her co-star, Tom Selleck.
