Meltio launches US-assembled metal 3D printing robot cells
Meltio has announced the launch of its Meltio Robot Cell, a metal additive manufacturing solution now being assembled directly in the United States. Based in New Britain, Connecticut, this initiative aims to serve the growing American demand in sectors such as defense, aerospace, automotive, energy, and mining.
The system utilizes Directed Energy Deposition (DED) technology, integrating a Meltio Engine with an ABB industrial robotic arm. The solution is designed as a “plug-and-play” turnkey platform that includes the Meltio Space software, a laser-safe enclosure, and necessary peripherals.
By partnering with FORCE Automation Inc. to assemble the cells locally, Meltio intends to reduce international shipping times, simplify customs procedures, and provide more localized support for its North American clients. While the core wire-laser deposition technology continues to be developed by the company, the localized assembly allows for a more standardized and rapid integration process for industrial users.
