Memmingen Airport: Two passengers intercepted for overstaying visas

German border police at Memmingen Airport identified two individuals attempting to depart for Albania who had significantly overstayed their permitted residence in Germany.

A 31-year-old man was found to have stayed in the country for 489 days since May 2025. Investigations revealed he had also been working without the necessary documentation. While he was permitted to continue his flight to Tirana following the inspection, criminal proceedings have been initiated for violations of the residence act. He is also expected to face a multi-year ban on re-entering Germany.

In a separate incident on the same day, a 55-year-old man was intercepted while traveling to Tirana. He had remained in Germany for 157 days, exceeding the 90-day limit allowed for tourists. He was required to provide a security deposit in the mid-three-digit range before being allowed to board his flight. Authorities have also initiated criminal proceedings against him and noted the possibility of a multi-year entry ban.
