Memorabilia project establishes digital archive for mining villages
The Memorabilia project has successfully concluded its recent phase, establishing a shared digital archive to preserve the history of the mining villages of Normann, San Giovanni, Bindua, and Monte Agruxiau. Led by Riverrun Ets in partnership with the Villaggio Normann ODV association, the initiative collected approximately one thousand items, including photographs, documents, films, and personal testimonies, largely sourced from private family archives.
The project exceeded initial engagement expectations; while designed for 80 residents, early meetings drew over 150 participants. To ensure long-term accessibility, the initiative created eight permanent cultural stations throughout the territory, marked by artistic mosaic QR codes that allow visitors to scan and access the digital archive.
Beyond digital preservation, the project integrated artistic elements through five site-specific theatrical performances held between May and September. The digital archive remains an evolving resource, allowing community members to continue uploading new content and information.
