Memorial services held for Monsignor Simoni and historian Ferruccio Policicchio

In Prato, a memorial mass was held at the cathedral to honor Monsignor Gastone Simoni on the fourth anniversary of his passing. The service was led by Vicar General Monsignor Daniele Scaccini, who praised Simoni for his 20-year leadership of the Prato diocese from 1992 to 2012. Scaccini highlighted Simoni’s pastoral passion and his dedication to the community, noting his ability to address poverty and social needs with grace.

In Sapri, the community gathered at the Church of San Giovanni for a memorial service for Ferruccio Policicchio, a former train conductor and respected local historian. Policicchio was recognized for his significant scientific publications regarding the French Decade and Giuseppe Garibaldi’s Thousand. The ceremony was attended by academic, social, and institutional figures, including representatives from the University of Salerno and the railway sector, who honored his dual legacy of historical research and social commitment.
