Memory chip cost increases threaten electronics prices in India
Rising memory chip and RAM costs are expected to drive price increases for various consumer electronics in India.
Samsung's latest foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8, may see price hikes due to increasing component costs. While the devices are currently available in India with starting prices of Rs 1,24,999 for the Flip8 and Rs 1,79,999 for the Fold8, manufacturers are preparing for higher costs that could impact future pricing.
The impact of rising RAM prices is also expected to extend to the budget smart TV segment. Manufacturers of 32-inch and 43-inch televisions, which rely on memory to run Android or Linux platforms, may face significant cost pressures. This follows similar price trends already observed in the smartphone and laptop markets.
