Memphis Depay cleared to play in Libertadores quarterfinals

Memphis Depay will be available to play for Corinthians in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals against Estudiantes de La Plata. Despite a formal complaint from the Argentine club, CONMEBOL has set a deadline of September 17 for Corinthians to present its legal defense.

The investigation follows an incident during the first leg in La Plata, where Depay allegedly made an obscene gesture toward Estudiantes fans after Kaio César scored an equalizer. Estudiantes filed a complaint requesting sanctions for behavior contrary to sporting order. While the disciplinary committee will review the case, the timing of the deadline ensures the Dutch striker can participate in the decisive match at Neo Química Arena on Wednesday.
