Memphis Depay set to return for Corinthians ahead of World Cup selection
Memphis Depay, the Netherlands' all‑time top scorer, is slated to rejoin the Corinthians squad this week. Brazilian media report he has been named in the lineup for the club's Brazilian Cup match against Barra FC, scheduled for Friday night. Recovering from a thigh‑bone injury, Depay could play up to 30 minutes, and Corinthians have brought in Spanish physiotherapist Fermín Valera Garrido to speed his rehabilitation.
Depay has made 12 appearances for Corinthians this season, recording one goal and one assist. With Dutch coach Ronald Koeman set to announce the final World Cup squad on 25 May, Depay must demonstrate full fitness in the limited remaining club matches before the tournament, which begins for the Netherlands on 14 June against Japan.
