Memphis expands community services and tourism attractions

Memphis is seeing developments in both community services and local tourism. OUTMemphis, a community and youth-empowerment center for the LGBTQ+ community, has expanded its operating hours. Both its Southern Avenue and South Cooper Street locations now offer services Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.

In the downtown area, a new immersive attraction called Baron Von Operbean and the River of Time (BVO) has opened in the former Mississippi River Museum on Mud Island. The project, described by Mayor Paul Young as a “jewel of an asset,” aims to revitalize underused spaces and attract a younger demographic of tourists to the city.
