Memphis Grizzlies acquire D'Angelo Russell in six‑team NBA trade
The Memphis Grizzlies added former NBA All‑Star guard D'Angelo Russell as part of a massive six‑team, salary‑matching deal that also involved the Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers. Russell, who has played for seven teams in his 11‑year career, said he remains "dangerous" no matter where he goes. The Grizzlies, who finished the 2025‑2026 season 25‑57 and missed the playoffs after trading away Ja Morant, also acquired forward Isaiah Stewart and a suite of draft picks. Russell will earn $5.9 million for the 2026‑27 season and becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2027. Memphis also drafted Cameron Boozer third overall, securing a promising frontcourt talent to pair with center Zach Edey as the team reshapes its roster.
The trade sends the Wizards veteran Khris Middleton to Dallas on a three‑year deal and moves players such as John Collins, Taurean Prince and Gary Harris among the other clubs. The arrangement gives the Grizzlies additional assets while they trim their 23‑player roster to the league‑mandated 15‑player limit.
