Memphis Grizzlies exercise options for Zach Edey and Cedric Coward

The Memphis Grizzlies have announced they are exercising rookie scale team options for Zach Edey and Cedric Coward for the 2027-28 season. Edey’s fourth-year option is valued at approximately $8.07 million, while Coward’s third-year option is set at $6.29 million.

Edey, a 7-foot-3 center, faced a challenging previous season that limited him to 11 games due to two surgeries on his left ankle to address ligamentous laxity and bone stress. Despite these injuries, he averaged 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. He will be eligible for a rookie scale extension in July 2027.

Cedric Coward, a 23-year-old wing selected 11th overall in the 2025 draft, earned All-Rookie first-team honors following a season in which he averaged 13.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists across 62 games. The Grizzlies must decide on Coward’s fourth-year option for the 2028-29 season by November 1, 2027.
