Memphis Grizzlies waive Walter Clayton Jr. and Micah Peavy
The Memphis Grizzlies have waived guard Walter Clayton Jr. and forward Micah Peavy to bring their roster to the league-mandated 15-player limit. The move follows unsuccessful efforts to trade Clayton before the roster deadline.
Clayton, the 18th overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft and a former Florida national champion, is owed approximately $4.2 million this season. Peavy is owed roughly $2.2 million. If both players clear waivers, the Grizzlies will carry approximately $6.4 million in guaranteed salary on their books.
The roster decisions also impact other players, such as Kris Murray, who secured a roster spot following the departures. Reports indicate that the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings have previously shown interest in Clayton, with the Kings seeking backcourt depth following an injury to Ben Simmons.
