Memphis restaurant Privé bans customers under 30 following violence

The Privé restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee, owned by rapper Yo Gotti, has implemented a strict age limit, prohibiting customers under the age of 30 from entering the establishment. The decision follows a series of recurring fights and a high-profile 2023 shooting in the restaurant's parking lot that left two people dead and five injured.

According to local reports, Memphis police were called to the high-end venue 13 times over the past year. Management took the radical step to preserve the business after the establishment became associated with local criminality on social media. While some patrons support the move, citing that violence often involves younger clientele, others argue that younger customers should not be penalized for the behavior of their peers.

In a separate series of violent incidents in Memphis, three different shootings resulted in two deaths and two injuries. One fatality occurred in Hickory Hill, while another occurred in the Frayser area during the early morning hours, where masked suspects were involved. A third shooting in Cordova left a woman injured and resulted in one arrest. Authorities are currently investigating these incidents and have not confirmed a connection between them.
