Memórias do Cárcere film premieres in Portuguese cinemas

The film “Memórias do Cárcere”, directed by Sérgio Graciano, has premiered in more than 30 cinemas. Produced by Leopardo Filmes, the movie is an adaptation of the work by Camilo Castelo Branco, which recounts his experiences while imprisoned in the Cadeia da Relação do Porto following a high-profile adultery case in the 19th century.

The film features Albano Jerónimo and Maria João Bastos in leading roles, supported by a cast including Paulo Pires and Marcello Urgeghe. It marks one of the final projects involving screenwriter Carlos Saboga, who passed away in March.

Following its theatrical release, the film is scheduled to compete at the Tokyo International Film Festival starting October 26, with a French release planned for March 2027.
