MENA startups raise $1.1 billion in September 2026

Startups in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region raised $1.1 billion in September 2026 through 73 transactions. This represents a 193% increase compared to August, though it remains 68% lower than the amount raised in September 2025.

Funding was highly concentrated, with three major deals accounting for nearly 70% of the total capital: Barq’s $329.5 million Series A, Tabby’s $233 million Series F, and Lendo’s $200 million debt financing.

Saudi Arabia led the region, securing $947.2 million across 40 startups, which constitutes approximately 86% of the total regional capital. Fintech dominated the Saudi market, making up 86% of its total funding. The United Arab Emirates followed with $98.4 million from 12 transactions, while Egypt returned to the top three with $49.2 million, largely driven by a $35 million pre-Series C round for Paymob.
