Menasha, Wisconsin tornado relief mobilizes volunteers and churches

A tornado that struck Menasha, Wisconsin on July 27 displaced an estimated 700 families and caused widespread damage, power outages and water safety concerns. Volunteers from Milwaukee, organized by Feeding America of Eastern Wisconsin, packed shelf‑stable meal boxes to feed the families, while the agency also coordinated on‑site distribution in Menasha.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Menasha opened its parking lot for displaced residents and served about 300 storm‑weary neighbors a hot lunch of hot dogs, burgers and 200 bratwursts donated by Operation BBQ Relief. Rector Rev. Andy Cruz Lillegard and parishioners walked to deliver additional food and supplies. No fatalities have been reported.

Both groups continue to monitor evolving needs, encouraging monetary donations and volunteer support as the community recovers from the tornado’s ripple effects on hunger and housing.
