Menden fire destroys pizzeria building on Unnaer Straße

A fire broke out in a building housing a pizzeria on Unnaer Straße in Menden, Germany. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the ground floor of the building fully engulfed in flames.

Due to reports of five people potentially inside the building, the Menden Fire Department escalated the emergency response to include protocols for a mass casualty incident. Firefighters utilized window impulses to lower temperatures and prevent the fire from spreading to the upper floor, while specialized teams searched the premises under heavy breathing apparatus.

While one report indicates no injuries occurred, another report states that two people were injured, with one person being transported to a hospital, and a firefighter receiving treatment for circulatory issues. The fire was eventually extinguished, and the building was cleared of smoke. Police have taken over the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
