Menden to inaugurate ‘Der Kreisel’ sculpture on Hönnetal-Radweg

The sculpture ‘Der Kreisel’ by local artist Heribert Prause is being installed along the Hönnetal-Radweg in Menden-Lendringsen, Germany. The official inauguration is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, at 11:00 AM.

Located near the former Rödinghausen ironworks and the Gut Rödinghausen Industrial Museum, the artwork aims to connect contemporary art with the region's industrial heritage. The piece highlights the transformation of steel from an industrial raw material into a medium for modern art, serving as a landmark to enhance the tourist route.

The installation is part of a broader thematic connection with another fountain sculpture by Prause located further along the Hönnetal; while ‘Der Kreisel’ focuses on metal, the fountain sculpture emphasizes water and the historical importance of hydropower. The project was made possible through funding from the Leader program.
