Mendoza and Bolivian authorities review electricity and transport tariffs

In Mendoza, Argentina, the provincial government has instructed the Ente Provincial Regulador Eléctrico (EPRE) to review the indicators used for electricity tariff adjustments. The review aims to determine if the Consumer Price Index (IPC) variation has met the 7% threshold required by Decree 1680/2024 to trigger a rate update for the Value Added Distribution (VAD). This measure does not mandate an immediate increase but verifies if regulatory conditions for a potential adjustment are met.

In Bolivia, authorities have reached an agreement with the Confederación de Choferes to allow a temporary increase of up to 35% for interdepartmental transport fares. In Chuquisaca, Governor Luis Ayllón promulgated Decree 098/2026, establishing maximum transport tariffs for 90 days following technical studies and dialogue with the sector. While some companies in La Paz have begun applying the new rates, operators in Santa Cruz and Cochabamba report that low passenger demand has prevented the implementation of the increases, with some even reducing prices to cover operating costs.
