Mendoza and Chile announce major regulatory updates in energy and telecommunications

In Mendoza, Argentina, the Ente Provincial Regulador Eléctrico (EPRE) has formally launched a tariff revision process to establish electricity distribution service conditions for the period between August 1, 2028, and July 31, 2033. The review, initiated via Resolution 201, will analyze tariffs, investments, and service quality. Distributers are required to submit tariff proposals alongside technical and financial documentation. The process aims to evaluate how the system responds to evolving demand and technological changes, including smart grids, energy storage, and electromobility.

In Chile, the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Romina Garrido, introduced the guidelines for the new National Digital Plan. This initiative involves proposed changes to the General Telecommunications Law and is built upon seven pillars: future highways, digital investment, connectivity, cybersecurity, accessibility, service quality, and innovation. Key objectives include the decommissioning of 3G signals by the end of the government term, advancing industrial 5G, and streamlining investment permits through sworn declarations. The plan also emphasizes improving international connectivity and prioritizing last-mile projects in extreme geographic zones.
