Mendoza and Córdoba increase traffic fine values

Argentine provinces of Mendoza and Córdoba are implementing increases to traffic violation fines through updates to their respective Fixed Unit (UF) values.

In Mendoza, the government has proposed a tax law to increase the UF to $800 by 2027. This adjustment aims to significantly raise penalties for serious offenses, particularly regarding driving under the influence. For drivers with blood alcohol levels between 0.5 and 0.99 grams, fines are projected to range between $2.4 million and $4.8 million. If alcohol levels exceed 1 gram, the minimum fine is expected to rise from $3.2 million to $8.8 million.

In Córdoba, the Fixed Unit was updated from $2,109 to $2,165 following Resolution 48 from the Dirección General de Prevención de Accidentes de Tránsito. This 2.7% increase affects all provincial sanctions. Minor infractions, such as smoking while driving, now carry fines between $43,300 and $216,500. Maximum gravity offenses, which can include running red lights or speeding, can now result in fines exceeding $4.3 million, alongside potential license point deductions or disqualifications.
