Argentina’s Güemes holiday weekend draws nearly 1 million tourists, $217 billion impact
The 205th anniversary of General Martín Miguel de Güemes was marked across Argentina with official ceremonies and a three‑day long weekend (13‑15 June). According to the Confederación Argentina de la Mediana Empresa (CAME), 993 683 travellers moved nationally, generating an estimated economic impact of about 216‑217 billion Argentine pesos. The average daily spend fell to $109 013 per person and stays shortened to roughly two days, continuing a 2026 trend of brief, last‑minute trips.
Regional data show varied contributions: San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca recorded about 1 900 visitors and a $625 million impact; Santa Fe logged 77 553 tourists with $11.1 billion in revenues; Mendoza welcomed 51 977 guests, generating $11.2 billion; Jujuy saw 13 706 visitors, $3.1 billion in earnings and a 60 % hotel‑occupancy rate, with the Quebrada area leading at 66.7 % occupancy. The tourism sector highlighted strong demand for nature, snow, thermal baths and cultural events, while overall consumption remained modest due to cold weather, the World Cup and economic caution.
