Mendoza announces 2026/2027 sport fishing season regulations
The Mendoza Undersecretariat of Environment has established the regulations, dates, and catch limits for the 2026/2027 sport fishing season.
Salmonid fishing, including brown, rainbow, and fontinalis trout, begins on November 1, 2026, and ends on May 1, 2027. However, in the southern reservoirs of Agua del Toro, Los Reyunos, Valle Grande, and El Nihuil, the season starts later on December 1. Catch limits for trout vary by location: Malargüe allows two specimens per outing, San Rafael allows four in most sectors and one in El Nihuil, while other areas allow five. In Laguna del Diamante, fontinalis trout have no limit, but brown or rainbow trout are restricted to four per person.
For pejerreyes and perch, the season runs from December 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Perch fishing is prohibited in the El Carrizal reservoir. Catch limits for pejerrey are set at 25 specimens in El Nihuil and 30 in Agua del Toro, Los Reyunos, and Valle Grande. Perch limits are 10 in El Nihuil and 15 in the Atuel River below Valle Grande. Fishing for carp, dientudos, and mojarras remains permitted year-round.
