Mendoza Civil Defense issues storm alert for Valle de Uco

Civil Defense in Mendoza has issued a yellow alert for storms of varying intensity across several regions, including Gran Mendoza, the East Zone, Valle de Uco, and the South Zone. According to the Mendoza Meteorological Extension Agency (AEMSA), significant rainfall of between 20 and 40 millimeters is expected, with activity potentially continuing into Sunday morning.

Weather conditions are forecasted to be unstable and warm, with maximum temperatures reaching 30°C. In high mountain areas, temperatures may drop to a minimum of -12°C with light, scattered snow.

Authorities recommend that residents avoid traveling through flooded streets, alluvial channels, or fords. Safety precautions include cleaning drains and gutters, securing objects that could be moved by wind, and disconnecting electrical appliances to prevent damage from water ingress. Drivers are advised to reduce speed and maintain distance between vehicles during heavy rain.
