Mendoza Governor supports Villouta family after judicial delays
Mendoza Governor Alfredo Cornejo has expressed support for the family of Alan Villouta following the dismissal of criminal charges against Alejandro Verdenelli. Verdenelli was the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Villouta in 2017.
The legal action against Verdenelli was declared expired due to judicial delays. Governor Cornejo criticized the Supreme Court of Justice of Mendoza, specifically Criminal Chamber II, for the extensive delays in resolving the case, describing the inaction as “incomprehensible” and “guaranga” (shabby).
In response to the situation, the Governor announced plans to submit a bill to the Legislature to establish mandatory deadlines for judicial resolutions. This measure aims to prevent cases from remaining dormant for years and ensure that procedural delays do not result in the expiration of statutes of limitations.
