Mendoza government expands subsidized gas cylinder program

The Government of Mendoza is conducting the ‘La Garrafa en tu Barrio’ program to provide subsidized 10 kg gas cylinders to vulnerable populations without access to a natural gas network. The initiative aims to reduce costs for families, offering refills at approximately half the market price, which currently exceeds $30,000.

Since 2019, the program has expanded from 24,000 social cylinders to over 500,000 deliveries in 2025, utilizing more than 600 distribution points across 18 departments. The operation reaches over 8,000 families daily through a digital delivery system and ID-based controls.

To access the benefit, residents must present their gas cylinder, a photocopy of their DNI, and a negative certification from ANSES. Retirees and pensioners must also provide a photocopy of their PAMI card, while individuals with disabilities must present a Unique Disability Certificate (CUD).
