Mendoza implements new cybersecurity law to protect digital infrastructure
The Government of Mendoza has officially implemented a new cybersecurity law designed to protect digital infrastructure and safeguard public sector data. The regulation establishes strict guidelines for governance, technical oversight, and incident response to ensure the continuity of public services.
A key component of this framework is the activation of the Strategic Cybersecurity Steering Committee (CCEC). This body is responsible for setting mandatory technical standards and developing the Provincial Cybersecurity Plan, involving various ministries and inviting participation from the Judiciary, Legislature, and municipalities.
Operationally, the system separates technical monitoring from oversight. An Operational Execution Authority will manage Security Operations Centers (SOC) and Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) to detect and mitigate threats. The law also introduces a Provincial Incident Registry and an official channel for reporting vulnerabilities. Compliance is mandatory for state agencies and private providers, with sanctions ranging from warnings to the total disconnection of official networks in cases of serious systemic risk.
