Mendoza Neighborhood Jury finds woman responsible for 22 graffiti incidents
A Neighborhood Jury in the City of Mendoza has unanimously found a woman responsible for 22 unauthorized graffiti incidents across various public and private spaces. The investigation began on January 3, when municipal prevention officers caught the woman painting a commercial shutter on Mitre Street. During that initial encounter, authorities seized 17 aerosol paint cans and other materials.
Following the initial incident, a municipal investigation linked the woman to 21 additional graffiti markings on facades, businesses, and public buildings. Investigators identified an Instagram account used by the woman to document and share her work. The jury also noted specific characteristics of the graffiti and physical identifiers, such as tattoos on her arms, to establish her responsibility.
Under the local Code of Coexistence, which prohibits unauthorized markings on public or private property, the woman faces significant financial penalties. The total fines for the 22 infractions could reach up to 10 million pesos. If the fines are not paid voluntarily, the municipality may initiate legal proceedings through tax courts, which could lead to asset seizures or inhibitions.
