Argentina political landscape: polling and electoral shifts

Recent political polling and electoral developments in Argentina reveal a complex landscape for both the current administration and opposition leaders. A report by CB Global Data shows varying approval ratings among provincial governors and mayors. Rolando Figueroa of Neuquén leads the governors' ranking with 55.8% positive image, while Hugo Passalacqua of Misiones remains highly rated at 52.8% despite a recent decline. Other notable shifts include Juan Pablo Valdés of Corrientes and Leandro Zdero of Chaco falling out of the top ten governors.

In terms of future electoral prospects, a survey by the consultancy Afiches suggests that President Javier Milei could face challenges in a 2027 runoff against Peronist figures such as Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Sergio Massa, and Axel Kicillof. The study highlights a significant segment of “non-polarized” voters, comprising between 26% and 55% of the electorate, who have yet to align with major political blocs.

Additionally, political maneuvering continues as the Coalición Cívica denies rumors of an agreement with Peronism, seeking to maintain its identity amidst increasing polarization. Meanwhile, in Mendoza, discussions regarding the 2027 gubernatorial succession are intensifying following the formation of the La Libertad Avanza + Cambia Mendoza coalition.
