Mendoza government proposes new voluntary labor regime for health workers

The Mendoza provincial government is proposing a new voluntary labor regime for health sector workers, specifically targeting those under 'Régimen 15,' which includes administrative staff, nurses, technicians, and maintenance personnel. The initiative aims to modernize human resource management, improve basic salaries, and introduce incentives for specialized areas such as digital health and maternity care. Officials state the transition will be optional and will respect existing labor rights and stability.

However, the proposal has faced intense criticism from the Association of State Workers (ATE Mendoza). Union leader Roberto Macho has labeled the move a “deceptive” and “disguised labor reform” intended to bypass collective bargaining processes. The union expressed concerns that the plan could lead to a reduction in actual wages and the loss of acquired rights, such as specific leave entitlements, despite the government's assurances of stability.
