Latin America reports fatal traffic accident, infrastructure launch, and journalist murder

In Minga Guazú, Paraguay, a traffic accident on route PY02 resulted in the death of 57-year-old Isidro Britos Ramírez and injuries to a 33-year-old woman. The collision involved a Chevrolet Corsa and a Chevrolet S10. The driver of the truck was detained for investigation, though his alcohol test was negative.

In Colombia, the director of Invías, Juan Camilo Ostos, launched the ‘Invías Territorio’ program in Villavicencio to coordinate road infrastructure priorities with local authorities. Additionally, the Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation into potential irregularities regarding emergency medical air services in Arauca.

In Honduras, journalist and university professor José Ángel Gonzáles García was found dead in his Comayagua residence. Preliminary reports indicate he was attacked with a sharp weapon. The incident has renewed concerns regarding the safety of press workers in the country, where impunity rates for journalist murders remain high.
