Mendoza rolls out new road links in Villa Llanquihue and Guaymallén

The municipality of Bariloche, led by Mayor Walter Cortés, has opened a new strategic road connecting Villa Llanquihue with Llao Llao. The link provides an alternative entry‑exit route for residents and fire services, especially in case of wild‑fire emergencies. Construction used municipal equipment—including new chainsaws, motor‑graded equipment and excavators—and was fully funded with local resources as part of a broader paving project for the Villa Llanquihue ascent.

In the neighboring district of Guaymallén, authorities began the most significant phase of the Acceso Este overhaul on 6 July. The first 1.5 km stretch between the Arturo González and Ponce bridges will be worked on for 45 days, with one lane kept open per direction while side collectors handle diverted traffic. Speed limits in the collectors are set at 40 km/h, and inspectors will enforce compliance. The project aims to add a third lane per direction, renew the pavement and improve overall traffic flow, with suggested alternate routes for motorists.
